Dropped $60 on a nonstick pan at a kitchen store in Toledo and the coating flaked off in 2 weeks
I bought a "premium" 10 inch nonstick skillet at a little kitchen shop in Toledo for $60 because the guy behind the counter swore it would last. Two weeks in, the coating started flaking into my scrambled eggs, and I only ever used a silicone spatula on it. I'm back to my $18 cast iron from a garage sale that I've had for 6 years. How do you all check a pan before you buy it so you don't get burned like I did?
Did you check if the store would take it back even after two weeks? A lot of small kitchen shops have their own return policy that's better than the box says, and a flaking pan in 14 days is clearly a defect, not normal wear. Worth a phone call before you write off the $60.
