Rant: I've logged 47 digs on the same Roman site and we still haven't found the forum
Three seasons ago I joined a dig outside Cirencester on what the brief called a 'major civic complex,' and last week my total number of excavation days there hit 47. In those 47 days our trench has produced 1,200+ pot sherds, 9 coins, and a single bronze brooch, but not one wall corner that lines up with the geophys survey. The survey showed a big rectangular anomaly right where we've been digging, and every season the director says we're 'just above it,' which at this point sounds less like archaeology and more like a guy at a poker table asking for one more card. Are any of you still stuck on a site where the remote sensing looks amazing and the trowel keeps saying otherwise, or do you all bail after season two?
