Just saw another article call the Antikythera Mechanism a 'simple calendar'. It's a 2000-year-old analog computer, people! I've been reading the research from the UCL team for like 3 years now.

You say "mind-blowing" but honestly I don't get why people act like this one study is some kind of game changer. The UCL team basically just built a replica based on their guesses, but we already had good guesses from previous research going back decades. The original fragments are still so broken that half their "discoveries" are just filling in the blanks with math that sort of works. And don't forget other teams have come up with completely different working models too. I'm just not convinced it proves anything that earth shattering about ancient tech.

What's the most mind-blowing detail from that UCL research?

Mind-blowing that people still pay attention to UCL research.

Honestly, the hype seems overblown. It's just a study, not a prophecy.
