Had a guy in Pompeii last year tell me I was digging all wrong

I was on a volunteer dig near Pompeii last summer and this old Italian archaeologist came over and watched me for like 10 minutes before he said anything. He showed me how I was brushing too hard and scraping off tiny fragments that mattered more than the big pieces. Has anyone else had a local expert completely change how you approach a site?

That little tweak makes everything click into place somehow.

@adams.vera nailed it. It's like that thing with fixing a stuck drawer, you wiggle everything for twenty minutes then realize you just needed to pull the left side first.

Doesn't it feel like that's how most good things in life work though? One small change in the right spot and suddenly everything just flows better, whether it's a recipe or a playlist or even a morning routine. It's weird how the tiniest things can shift the whole balance like that...
