DAE get super into a dig site just from a random news article?
I mean, last week I read this piece about a new settlement they found in northern Scotland, near Inverness. They think it's from around 300 AD, which is way earlier than they thought people were up there. Idk, maybe it's just me but I've been looking up old maps of the area ever since. Has anyone else gone down a rabbit hole like that from one small find?

Seriously though, what's the coolest local story you've found once you started looking?

Honestly it's just a news article, not a life changing event. People find old stuff all the time, it's cool for a minute but then you move on. Spending hours on old maps seems like a lot for one random find. It's neat history but maybe not that deep.

Yeah but that's the thing, it's never just one find. You get hooked on the search itself. One old map leads you down a rabbit hole of property records and local stories, and suddenly you're piecing together a whole forgotten chapter of your own town. The find is just the door opening.
