Why does nobody talk about how bad light ropes are for tree crotches?
Pulled a light rope out of a maple crotch last week that had been there since 2019 and the bark was basically dead underneath, so has anyone else seen long-term damage from people leaving those up for years?

Oh man, my buddy left a light rope in a tree crotch for like three years and when he finally pulled it out there was this weird groove worn right into the bark... looked like the tree had tried to grow around it or something.

Trees are wild, man. That groove thing happens when you leave something on too long... kinda like when I forgot a rubber band on my wrist for a summer and it left this weird pale line. Except a tree getting a scar from a light rope is way cooler than me having a permanent reminder I'm bad at remembering to take stuff off. My buddy once left a hose wrapped around a post for a season and the bark started swallowing it. Nature just does its thing, I guess.
