Vent: the old timer at the supply yard in Boise asked when I last checked my chain brake, and I had to admit I couldn't remember
He said his nephew's brake failed on a 40 foot cottonwood takedown because nobody ever tested it, just trusted the light. Now I hit mine cold every Monday before the truck leaves, takes 5 seconds. Anyone else got a pre-start check they swear by?

Did the same thing after my old man watched a guy eat a bar because his brake was shot? Now I bump it against a log every morning before I even fuel up. Five seconds is cheap when you think about what it saves you.
