Tried greasing a pulley with bacon fat, big mistake
Was on a job in Springfield last Friday, out of grease, saw leftover breakfast. Slathered it on a big commercial pulley. Squirrels swarmed that tree for two straight days, client thought I planted a buffet. Anyone else ever get creative with lube and regret it?

Funny you mention that, I used WD-40 once when I was out of the good stuff on a squeaky hinge and the smell brought every dog in the neighborhood over for a week. The client was NOT happy about the barking, but at least the hinge stayed quiet. Now I just keep a spare can of proper lube in the truck at ALL times, lesson learned.
