That 0.5% slope on a big oak made me lose $200 on a repeat visit last spring

I thought I could eyeball the backfill grade around this giant red oak near Austin and ended up with water pooling against the trunk, killing the roots by August, has anyone else had to eat the cost of a fix after misjudging drainage like that?

Learned that lesson the hard way. Water pools. Trees die.

How deep was the pooling before you caught it?
