Just realized my climbing line was way older than I thought

Last month I was swapping out my saw lanyard and noticed the sheath on my 14mm Yale line was fraying near the splice, so I checked the tag and it was from 2018, I had no idea it was that old. I've been using it every week on removals around Spokane and never thought twice about retirement dates until that moment. Has anyone else had a line fail or go bad without obvious signs, and how do you track when to replace yours?
