Had a client tell me my pruning cuts looked like an amateur did them
Turns out they were right about my collar cuts being too flush, so I spent a weekend watching old arborist seminars and now I leave a proper angle every time has anyone else gotten blasted by a homeowner who actually knew their stuff?

Blew my mind that a homeowner actually knew what a collar cut was. Most people just say "trim the tree" and have no clue about branch angles or bark ridges. @taylorhunt has the right idea with the bourbon though, that kind of feedback stings but it sounds like you actually got better from it.
