Had a change of heart about oak wilt injections after a chat with a old timer in Ohio

I ran into a retired arborist at a hardware store in Columbus who showed me pics of oaks he saved 15 years ago with the same treatment I was buying that day. Changed my mind on preventive injections being a waste of money, anyone else have a mentor moment that stuck with you?

Respectfully, I gotta push back on this. Seen too many people drop hundreds on injections when the real problem was soil compaction or a root flare buried 3 feet deep. That old timer might have gotten lucky or had trees that weren't already stressed hard from drought or construction damage. The science on preventive injections is still shaky for most cases, especially if the tree isn't showing symptoms yet. Just feel like people jump to the needle too quick when a good mulch ring and proper watering would do more.
