Got called out for my sloppy notch on a big maple removal

Honestly, my old boss watched me set up for a 32 inch maple in Springfield and just said 'Your notch is too shallow, you're gonna get a barber chair.' He was right, I was rushing. I started cutting them a full 80 degrees, like he showed me, and the difference in control is huge. Anyone else have a boss or coworker point out a bad habit that actually stuck?

That bit about rushing and getting called out is so true for a lot of jobs. It's easy to skip steps you think you don't need when you're trying to be fast. A good boss or coworker spots those shortcuts before they bite you. That kind of advice, where they just point out the one thing you're doing wrong, usually sticks way better than a big lecture.

What if grantt11, the real danger is when no one sees your shortcuts until it's too late?
