Got a huge pine stump out in under an hour with a trick my grandpa showed me

Honestly, I had this old Norfolk pine stump in a client's yard in Clearwater that was just refusing to budge after grinding. Ngl, I was about to call for a bigger machine. My grandpa, who was a logger, always said to drill a ring of holes around the edge and fill them with epsom salt and water. Did that on a Friday, came back Monday, and the wood was so punky I pulled the whole root ball with my mini-ex. Has anyone else tried a weird old trick like that that actually worked?

Why do old tricks always sound crazy but work so well?

Wait, how much epsom salt did you use?

Old tricks working is the weird part. What makes something like epsom salt actually do anything. Is it just placebo or is there a real reason. I always wonder if we just believe in it because someone's grandma said so. Would love to see someone actually test it properly.
