Blew out my hydraulic saw on a massive oak root last Thursday
Was cutting through a 40 inch root on a removal in Portland and the pressure line just burst right in my face. Got drenched in oil and had to rig up a bypass with spare hose fittings - has anyone else had a hydraulic line blow mid-cut and found a quick field fix?

Man that 40 inch root sounds brutal. My first hydraulic blowout was on a 30 inch Doug fir stump in Portland too, actually. I had to cannibalize a spare hose from an old log splitter I kept in the truck, used two wrenches and some Teflon tape to patch it up, held for the rest of the cut but I was sweating bullets the whole time. Compression fittings from a hardware store kit have saved me twice now, but it's always a roll of the dice.

Dude same thing happened to me last month on a sycamore stump. Had to use a compression fitting from my truck kit and it held just long enough to finish the cut, sketchy as hell though.
