A homeowner in Charlotte pointed out my rope angle on a big oak removal
I was setting a line on a 60-foot white oak last month, and the client, who used to work on ships, said my rope was running at a bad angle off the trunk. He explained it was creating too much friction and could wear through. I adjusted the rigging point, and the whole descent went way smoother with less bark damage. Anyone else get a useful tip from a client that wasn't in the tree business?

Ever think about asking clients what they do before you start? That guy's rigging knowledge from ships is a perfect example of skills that cross over. I had a rock climber once point out a way to set a friction saver that I still use. Some of the best tricks come from outside the industry.

Spot the same thing happening everywhere once you start looking for it. My barber picked up his best thinning shear technique from a chef friend who butchers his own meat. Makes you wonder how much good stuff gets stuck in little boxes because we don't ask simple questions.

Ngl that happens more than you'd think. Had a seamstress once notice my saddle straps were rubbing weird and she suggested a quick adjustment saved my back a lot of pain.
