Wasted $120 on a 'professional' drain snake that snapped on the first clog

Bought a supposed heavy-duty drain snake off a parts website, got it last week, and the cable twisted and snapped inside a kitchen sink line after one use. Anybody else have bad luck with those off-brand snaking tools that claim to be for pros?

Buddy of mine bought one of those cheap Amazon specials with the orange handle. First clog it grabbed onto something nasty and just twisted up like a pretzel before snapping clean off. He spent the whole afternoon fishing pieces of cable out of the pipe with a shop vac and a coat hanger. Ended up paying a plumber $200 to finish the job anyway. Said he should've just rented a proper machine from Home Depot for $50 instead lol.

Man that cable just twisted up like a wet noodle before it snapped? Thats wild. I woulda lost my mind if I had to spend hours sucking pieces out with a shop vac. The coat hanger thing is hilarious though like what did he think was gonna happen? $200 later for a lesson in not buying cheap crap. Honestly I respect the hustle though trying to save money just backfired big time.
