Thought sealed fridge compressors were always worth swapping, then I watched a guy in Tucson do one in 90 minutes
I used to push customers toward a full compressor swap on any fridge older than 8 years because that's how the old shop trained me. Last Tuesday I rode along with a tech named Ray in Tucson who brazed in a new drier and filter, pulled a vac for 25 minutes, and had cold air back in under 90 minutes flat. His callback rate on those jobs was way lower than mine and the labor ticket still came out around $480, so I've been doing it his way since. Anybody else changed how they handle sealed system jobs lately, or am I late to this?
