Rant: home warranty companies sending customers with 50 year old dryers
Had a lady in Denver last Tuesday whose home warranty sent her a tech for a dryer that was literally rusted through on the inside, they expected me to fix it for like $40. Anyone else dealing with these warranty companies refusing to just say a unit is toast?

Yeah I read somewhere that these warranty companies have some kind of quota system where they deny as many claims as possible per month. It's the same thing with water heaters and AC units, they'll send a tech to look at something that's clearly shot just to say no. Sounds like that system is alive and well with your dryer lady.

@jordanl82 hit it right on the head with that quota stuff. So here's my question - how do these companies even stay in business when they keep treating customers like that? The lady with the rusted dryer probably paid like $500 a year for that warranty and now shes stuck with a broken machine and a wasted service call fee. I wonder if they're betting that most people just give up after a couple denials and eat the cost of a new unit themselves. That seems like a pretty shady way to run things but I guess it works for them since theyre still around.
