Old timer from the shop said the last Maytag dryer he worked on from 1985 still had the original belt

That comment made me rethink tossing out customer units just because the part is discontinued, because maybe waiting a few extra days for a used part to ship is better than convincing someone to drop $800 on a new machine when the old one only needs a $15 belt that's still out there somewhere.

Holy crap, 1985? That dryer's older than some of the rookies at my station.

Did your station ever get one of those old gas dryers that could double as a space heater? We had one that would make the firehouse smell like burnt toast every time someone ran it.
