Just left a call at a rental in Phoenix and I'm still fuming

Went out to a property near 7th Street yesterday, supposed to be a simple fridge fix. Landlord said the tenant just wanted a new appliance but I found the old one had a bad compressor that was clearly ran with the coils covered in dust for years. How do you convince someone that basic maintenance would have saved them $800 instead of blaming the repair guy?

Man, that's rough. You did your best to help, but some folks just don't want to hear the truth. It's like they think you're the bad guy for pointing out the real problem instead of just swapping parts.

Yeah, that's exactly it @terry_barnes. I had a buddy who was a mechanic and he kept telling this guy his timing chain was stretched, not just a sensor going bad. Guy wouldn't listen, spent like four hundred bucks on new sensors and still had the same problem. Finally came back mad as hell saying my buddy didn't know what he was talking about... but then the car died on the highway a week later. Some people just have to learn the hard way, I guess. Makes you want to walk away and let them figure it out themselves sometimes.
