I used a heat gun on a stuck dryer pulley and got a surprise

Was working on a 2018 Whirlpool dryer with a seized idler pulley, and after a shot of penetrant did nothing, I gently warmed the pulley hub with my heat gun for about 30 seconds. The whole plastic pulley assembly just sagged and deformed before my eyes. Lesson learned: always check the pulley material first, because some of them are just cheap plastic that can't take any heat. Anyone have a good method for a stuck pulley on a plastic hub without wrecking it?

Wait, you just melted a pulley on a 2018 model? That thing is barely out of warranty and they're already using plastic that can't handle a little heat? What are they making these parts out of, old milk jugs?

Old milk jugs" is SPOT ON, @tyler492. My buddy's 2019 did the same thing, just a cheap plastic idler that warped. They're really cutting corners on stuff that should last.
