I thought those new plastic drain pumps were junk until I saw one survive a kid's sock in a Kenmore washer.

After the customer in Bellingham told me they'd been running it for a month with that clog, I had to ask if anyone else has seen these newer parts hold up better than expected.

Remember thinking they'd all crack under pressure. Saw one last week that had chewed through a hair tie and a Lego for who knows how many cycles. It's not just about being tough plastic, it's the new impeller design. They made those fins way thicker and angled them so junk just gets pushed through instead of jamming. Totally changed my mind on them.

Was it one of those clear plastic ones? I had the same thought when they first came out. My neighbor's ancient top loader ate a washcloth and the new pump just chugged right along, it was honestly shocking. I guess they figured out how to make that material tough enough for the real world.

A washcloth too, @eva_thompson10? That's wild.
