Called it quits on a Frigidaire ice maker after 2 hours of back and forth

Had a service call last week in Nashville where the ice maker was cycling but no cubes dropping. Spent a solid 30 minutes checking the water valve and fill tube, then another 45 minutes on the control board and the motor. Finally just told the homeowner the arm was hitting a tiny piece of frozen debris in the mold. Decided to swap the whole mold assembly instead of picking at it. Worked like a charm after that. Anyone else find themselves wasting time on the easy stuff before realizing the simple fix?

Used to roll my eyes when someone said check the mold first, figured it was always the valve or the board. But last month I had a Frigidaire doing the exact same thing, arm was just barely catching on a little ice chunk. Felt kinda dumb after swapping the whole water line for nothing the week before. Now I always pop the cover and take a real close look at the mold before any other testing.

Funny how the simplest fix is the one you overlook after chasing ghosts. Grab a flashlight and look at the mold from a low angle, that ice chunk hides right where the arm swings. Saved me a whole Saturday of swearing at a perfectly good icemaker.
