Tried the bokashi bucket after months of hating my worm bin
I was really struggling with fruit flies and the smell from my worm bin in my tiny Chicago studio. Worms kept dying on me too. Friend told me to try bokashi for 3 weeks and I'm shocked at how clean it is. No bugs at all and the pre-compost just goes in a bag under the sink. Anyone else switch from worms and never look back?

Wait till you notice how much more volume you process with bokashi compared to worms. You can throw in citrus, onions, and even cooked leftovers without any issues. It's basically zero maintenance once you get the layering right.

Honestly I was the same way about bokashi for a long time. I thought it was just some gimmick for people who didn't want to get their hands dirty with worms. But after dealing with my own worm bin disaster in a small apartment I finally caved and tried it a few months ago. Ngl I feel like an idiot for resisting for so long. The fact that I can throw in citrus peels and onion skins without any problem is a total game changer. Tbh the pre-compost sitting under my sink barely has any smell at all compared to the constant sour scent of my old worm bin.
