My neighbor's frozen compost trick saved my kitchen from fruit flies

Our neighbor in unit 3B told me to keep my compost bucket in the freezer during summer instead of on the counter. I thought she was being dramatic about the smell, but after three weeks of gnat issues, I tried it. Now I just dump the frozen scraps into my bin every Sunday, and there is zero odor. Has anyone else tried freezing their scraps before adding them to a worm bin?

Freezing stuff before dealing with it is a whole life hack honestly. I do the same with bread before it molds and meat bones before trash day. The cold just stops the clock on everything rotting and smelling. Smart move by your neighbor, simple fixes like that beat any fancy gadget.
