My downstairs neighbor's compost bin comment changed my whole setup
Ngl, I've been composting in my 400 sq ft studio in Portland for 2 years now, but last week my neighbor Karen knocked on my door and said my bin smelled like 'rotten fruit and gym socks'. Tbh, I thought I was doing fine with a sealed bucket and baking soda, but she was right. I switched to a 5 gallon bucket with a tight lid and started freezing scraps before adding them, and now it's basically odorless. Has anyone else had a neighbor call them out like that, or do you all proactively avoid the smell somehow?
