My compost bin started leaking in my kitchen last Tuesday

I was using a basic plastic container with holes and it dripped brown liquid onto the floor. I had to quickly move it to the bathtub and add way more shredded paper to soak it up. Has anyone else had a leak, and what container do you use now?

What kind of food scraps were you putting in there? Sounds way too wet.

Wait you had a compost bin inside your actual kitchen? That's a brave move right there. The liquid mess sounds like a total nightmare to clean up. Maybe try a container with a solid bottom and a lid next time.

My buddy had the same thing happen with a metal bucket he drilled holes in. It left a nasty puddle under his sink that smelled like old coffee grounds and rotten fruit. He switched to a ceramic crock with a charcoal filter lid and it stopped the leaks completely.
