My bokashi bin attracted fruit flies for a month
I keep my bokashi bin under the kitchen sink in my studio apartment. Last month I got lazy and left the lid cracked for a few hours after dumping in some melon rinds. Next thing I know, tiny fruit flies were everywhere. Took me 3 weeks of sealing every crack with tape and freezing scraps before adding them to finally get rid of them. Has anyone else dealt with a fruit fly outbreak from a compost setup?

Honestly seems like overkill for a few fruit flies man.

I get it sounds like a lot, but @joelp81 once you've had a fruit fly problem take over your kitchen you start to see things differently. They breed crazy fast and before you know it you've got dozens of them buzzing around your bananas and trash can.

Oh man, I feel you on that... fruit flies are no joke once they get going. They can take over a kitchen faster than you'd think. A little extra effort upfront beats dealing with a full-blown swarm later.
