I finally switched from a countertop bin to freezer scrap bags

I used to keep that little charcoal filter bin on my kitchen counter in Austin, but by day 3 it always got fruit flies and that sour smell. About 2 months ago I just started tossing scraps into a regular gallon Ziploc in the freezer and taking it out every Sunday to the drop off at the farmers market on South Congress. Has anyone else found the freezer trick totally kills the odor issue, or do you do something else for the week in between?
