Am I the only one who got a weird smell from bokashi bran instead of the usual compost bin?

I tried using bokashi bran in a 5 gallon bucket for 6 weeks instead of my normal worm bin, thinking it would be less work and no smell. But after 3 weeks, the bucket started giving off a sour pickly smell that filled my whole kitchen, which was totally unexpected since everyone says bokashi is odor-free. Did I mess up the layers or is that sour smell just part of the process for you guys too?

Same thing happened to me, that sour pickle smell is totally normal for bokashi lol.
