Serious question, overheard two guys at the con in Atlanta arguing about spoiler culture in seasonal anime threads.

One said 'posting a major death from episode 3 in a thread title is just discussion', but doesn't that ruin the whole point of a weekly watch? How do your communities handle spoilers without killing the talk?

Yeah @hayden_rivera nailed it, spoiler tags are the only way to go.

Nah, that first guy is way off. Calling a huge death in the title "just discussion" is selfish and ruins it for everyone catching up. My group uses a strict spoiler tag rule for anything past the current episode, and you have to say which episode it's from. It keeps the talk alive without spoiling the surprise.

Strict spoiler tag rule, huh. My buddy's group tried that but it fell apart when someone posted "wow episode 7's big twist" and then tagged it wrong. They spent a week arguing about proper tagging instead of the show.
