My local anime club's viewing party got a bit too real

We were watching a cooking anime at the library, and the main character started yelling about the perfect dashi broth. A guy in the front row, a total stranger, stood up and yelled back at the screen, 'Your kombu soak time is wrong!' He then gave a ten minute lecture to the whole room about proper stock techniques. Now I can't watch any food anime without checking the recipe details first. Does anyone else get pulled out of a show by oddly specific inaccuracies?

A ten minute lecture in the middle of a library screening is wild. That guy must have been holding that in for years. I'd be checking every recipe after that too.

Holding that in for years is right. Seen it before. Someone gets one piece of info and becomes the self-appointed expert. Best move is to just nod, say "huh," and go back to your business. Arguing just gives them the stage they want. They're looking for a reaction, not a conversation.
