My humidifier gave my anime figures a weird white dust layer
I keep my figure collection on a shelf in my bedroom and ran a cool mist humidifier all winter. After about 3 months I noticed this fine white powder stuck to everything, especially my Attack on Titan Mikasa figure. Turns out it was mineral dust from tap water in the humidifier. I had to use a soft brush and Q-tips to clean every single one, took me like 2 hours. Now I just use distilled water instead, problem solved. Has anyone else had their collectibles get messed up by household stuff like that?

Man, I feel your pain on the white dust thing. I had the same problem with my Gunpla kits, turned my Sazabi into a dusty mess (like, really bad). What worked for me was switching to a hygrometer to keep an eye on humidity levels so I didn't even need the humidifier running all the time. Also, I started using a little desk fan to circulate air near the shelf, seems to keep the dust from settling as much. Distilled water is definitely the best fix though, learned that the hard way too.

Hygrometer just tells you the number. A dehumidifier actually fixes the dust problem.
