Had a weird experience at Anime Expo last weekend that's got me worried

I was at Anime Expo in LA last Saturday, and this guy at a booth kept pushing some new streaming site hard. Said it had all the classics from the 90s uncut. I checked it out later, and the quality was fine, but the site asked for my credit card info just to make an account. Something felt off, so I backed out. Has anyone else run into shady stuff like this at conventions or am I overreacting?

My cousin almost signed up for a "free" streaming service at a convention and ended up with three mystery charges on his card.

Three mystery charges? That's insane. I would have flipped my lid right there at the convention booth. Free streaming my foot, sounds like a total scam. Hope your cousin is fighting those charges with his bank. People really need to start reading the fine print before pulling out their cards.
