Dubbed vs subbed for Attack on Titan season 4, I finally picked one

I went back and forth for like two weeks on whether to watch AoT season 4 dubbed or subbed. I usually go dubbed for convenience but I heard the subbed performances were next level. Ended up going subbed and man, the raw emotion from the Japanese VA's hit way harder in those big scenes. My buddy swears the dub is fine but I feel like I would have missed out on half the impact. Has anyone else felt this torn over a specific season or show?

Fourteen days of deciding between dubs and subs for one season feels like overthinking it to me. I get that the Japanese VAs brought the heat for those big Reiner and Eren scenes, but I've seen plenty of shows where the dub cast puts in just as much work. The whole "missing out on half the impact" thing sounds like you're buying into the hype a little. If your buddy says the dub is fine, he's probably not wrong, it's just different flavors of the same story. At the end of the day, you're still watching the same exploding titans and dramatic reveals. Maybe just pick whichever lets you actually follow the action without reading subtitles the whole time.

Pick whichever one lets you actually enjoy the show without stopping to read every line, @cameronb52. I've been in that same boat where I overthought it for a whole week and ended up just flipping a coin. The big moments still hit, whether you hear the original scream or the dubbed version of it. Honestly, the only real difference is if you can focus on the action or if you're squinting at the bottom of the screen. Save yourself the fourteen days and just go with what makes you less tired at the end of an episode.
