Dub vs sub debate got way less heated after I tried both for a season

I used to swear by subs only until I watched the first 3 episodes of Monster dubbed last year. The voice actor for Dr. Tenma nailed the quiet intensity way better than the sub version in my opinion. Anyone else flip sides after actually giving the other format a fair shot?

oh man, Monster is the exact show that got me to switch too. I was all about subs for years, but the dub for that series is just on another level. Dr. Tenma's VA brings this tired, desperate energy that really sold the whole thing for me. I actually went back and watched a few key scenes in sub after finishing it in dub, and it just didn't hit as hard. Did you find yourself rewatching any scenes to compare the two versions?

Watched the scene where Tenma first meets Johan in the hospital. Sub version felt flat compared to the dub. The dub voice actor made him sound hollow and tired in a way the original just didn't. That scene alone sold me on dubs forever.
