Dropped $120 on a premium streaming site before a random Redditor told me to check out Crunchyroll's free tier instead
I was ready to commit to this fancy new anime service because it had all the simulcasts. Some user in the weekly thread pointed out that Crunchyroll's free catalog actually had a ton of classics I hadn't seen, like 'Steins;Gate' and 'Fullmetal Alchemist.' So I canceled my subscription after one month and saved myself $100. Anyone else ever switch to a cheaper option after someone gave them a heads up?

Man that $120 service probably had way better video quality and zero ads though... Crunchyroll's free tier is 480p with commercials every 5 minutes and you still can't watch the latest episodes until a week later if at all. I tried that route with "Jujutsu Kaisen" season 2 and ended up getting spoiled on every major twist before the free episode dropped. Plus the free catalog is missing a lot of the newer shows that actually get people talking online. You end up spending more time buffering and skipping ads than actually watching anything. Sometimes paying for convenience is worth the money, especially if you're into the hype shows everyone's discussing.

So wait, you're telling me you actually held out on the free tier for Jujutsu Kaisen season 2? That's rough, man. I get that $120 is a lot for some people but that show in particular was brutal for spoilers. I couldn't even open Twitter without seeing someone post a screenshot of the Shibuya arc ending. How did you even manage to avoid all that for a whole week each time? Did you just stay off social media entirely or what? That sounds like a full-time job in itself.
