Caught in a split over cooking anime's dramatic style with my viewing group

Half of us think the big, flashy food reactions in shows like 'Food Wars!' are a blast and pull you into the story. The other half feels it's just silly and stops you from taking the cooking parts for real. We keep going back and forth on if it helps or hurts the show. Where do you all land on this?

Honestly that's just like how some people actually react to great food in real life, it's all about personal taste.
