Burned 12 hours rewatching a whole arc I hated just because a YouTuber said it was "required viewing"
Last month I sat through all 26 episodes of an arc I already knew I disliked, all because some video essay guy with a big subscriber count called it "essential." I kept waiting for it to get good. Episode 14, episode 19, still nothing. Then my buddy Dave asked why I was even doing it and I couldn't give him a real answer. That was the moment it clicked. I was letting someone else's watch order make my hobby feel like homework. Now I just skip the filler if I'm not feeling it, no guilt, and I finished 3 shows I actually liked in the time I used to waste on one I didn't. Anyone else get trapped by those "you HAVE to watch this" lists, or is it just me?
Skipping filler is normal and those lists are mostly just someone else's taste dressed up as fact. I fell into the same trap with a long running anime where a guy swore the first 40 episodes were a rite of passage. Got to episode 30, bored out of my mind, and quit. Felt weird for like a day and then I moved on. Your buddy Dave asked the right question, because if you can't say why you're watching something, that's your answer right there. Watch order is a suggestion, not a rule, and nobody is grading you on it.
