Moved from the West Side to the North Valley after 15 years...

After living over on the West Side by Unser for about 15 years, I finally made the jump to a little house in the North Valley last spring. The choice really came down to either staying put in a bigger house with a view of the mesa or moving into an older, smaller place with actual trees and a ditch. I picked the North Valley place because I was just tired of driving 30 minutes to grab groceries or see a friend over on the East Side. Now I can walk to the little market on Rio Grande, and my utility bill is way lower since the house is smaller and the trees shade it. But man, I did not realize how much I would miss that wide open sky you get on the West Side... some mornings I feel a little boxed in by all the cottonwoods. Has anyone else made a similar move and felt torn about it?

30 minutes to grab groceries sounds like a DREAM compared to the 45 minute haul I used to do on the West Side just to get to a decent hardware store. You traded a view of dirt and rocks for actual shade and a ditch, so congrats on becoming a full time mosquito rancher. I bet those cottonwoods are real great in July when the sap is raining down on your car too. But hey, at least you can walk to the market now and buy a $9 bag of chips to go with your lowered utility bill.
