Found out 70% of city water goes to landscaping here
I was looking at the city water authority website last night trying to figure out my bill and stumbled on a fact that surprised me. Turns out roughly 70% of Albuquerque's water supply is used for watering lawns and gardens. Growing up here in the 80s I remember everyone having big green yards but now with the drought restrictions I figured that number would have dropped way lower. Has anyone else looked into this or found similar stats about how much we actually use?

Same here, my lawn's basically just dead weeds and hope.

Hope might actually be the worst thing you can put on a lawn, to be honest. That "dead weeds" part sounds like you've got at least some grass trying to come back, or maybe it's just crabgrass pretending to be grass. If you really want to fix it, you've got to start with a soil test, not just more seed and prayers. The big box stores sell cheap kits, and they'll tell you if your dirt is too acidic or missing nitrogen. A lot of folks skip that step and wonder why their expensive seed just sits there and rots. Patience is the real secret, not hope.
