Finally made it through a full shift without my radio dying in the South Valley heat

I drive for a living and yesterday was a scorcher, 97 degrees out near Rio Bravo. My old handheld radio kept shutting off after an hour in the sun, every single day for the past two weeks. Yesterday I rigged up a little insulated pouch with a cold pack from my lunch cooler, stuffed it behind the visor. It lasted the whole 10 hour shift, not even one hiccup. I know it sounds dumb but that little win made my whole week. Has anyone else found a simple fix for electronics overheating in this town during summer?
