Vent: The week I had to rewire a whole house because of a 'creative' DIY job

Last month in Tempe, a homeowner tried to install his own system and used speaker wire for everything, including the smoke detectors. It took me four full days just to trace and replace it all. Has anyone else walked into a mess that made you want to just walk back out?

Oh man, I feel that... I once tried to hang a shelf and set off the smoke alarm from all the dust. Then the cat ran into the security panel. My neighbor came over thinking it was a real emergency. It was just me and a drill looking very sorry.
