TIL that running ethernet through the same conduit as low voltage alarm wire is a fast way to get a service call back

Had a job at a house in Arlington last Tuesday. Finished up the install, everything tested fine. Got a call the next morning that the door sensors were going off randomly. Spent 3 hours troubleshooting before I noticed the home owner's IT guy had run Cat6 through the same pipe I used for the alarm wires. Cross talk was messing with the signals. Had to rerun everything. Anyone else run into interference issues from shared conduits?

One time I shoved a Cat5 through with speaker wire and the doorbell started playing "Baby Shark" every time the internet dropped.

And honestly that's pretty impressive, most people can't even get their doorbell to play the right song on purpose. You basically invented a new type of smart home feature nobody asked for but definitely needed. Bet the neighbors love when your internet goes down at 3am.
