Stumbled on the stat that 60% of false alarms come from user error
I was reading through the industry report from the monitoring association and saw that 60% of false alarms are caused by user error. Found it on their website last night while looking for new training materials. Things like forgetting the code, leaving pets in zones that are armed, or hitting the panic button by accident. It really surprised me because I always assumed it was equipment glitches or animals setting things off. Makes me wonder how much time we spend troubleshooting gear when the real fix is just better homeowner education. Has anyone else noticed this pattern in their own installs?

Tackling user education upfront in the contract or at install really cut down callbacks for me. Simple laminated quick reference cards by the keypad for the top three mistakes worked better than any email or manual. Just that one change dropped our false alarm related service calls by a solid third.

Buddy did this with his clients, zero complaints after, @wright.kevin was onto something.
