Spent 6 hours chasing a ground fault on a 40-zone panel in a strip mall off Route 9
Client calls me because the panel kept showing a zone fault every time it rained. I checked every door contact and motion sensor, swapped two of them, and still got the fault. Turned out a staple from the original install in 2009 had nicked the jacket on a buried run out to the back door, and water was getting in through a crack in the conduit. Six hours for a 10 cent staple. Anyone got a faster way to isolate a wet zone short without pulling every device off the loop?
