PSA: I thought those 'smart' doorbell cams were just for show until my own got stolen
A client in my old neighborhood insisted on a fancy video doorbell, and I figured it was overkill. Then someone swiped mine off the porch last Tuesday, and the motion clip it sent to my phone had a clear shot of the guy's truck and plate. The cops had the info in five minutes. I'm installing them on my own house this weekend. Anyone else have a piece of gear they doubted that saved the day?

Honestly, did you get the one with the theft guard mount? Tbh, that extra bracket makes it a real pain to just rip off the wall.

That bracket's the whole point, makes thieves work for it.

Read somewhere that some police departments actually keep a database of stolen camera footage from these things. They use it to track repeat offenders or link crimes together. Didnt think about it until my own got nabbed last week. Now Im kind of glad the footage gets shared around more than I realized.
