Pro tip: stop running speaker wire next to high voltage if you can avoid it
I was on a job last week in a new build in Austin and the homeowner kept getting static on his keypad. The old timer I was with pointed out the alarm wire was sharing a stud bay with 120V romex for about 6 feet. He swapped in shielded wire and the static disappeared. I always thought interference was overblown but seeing it fixed in real time changed my mind. Anyone else run into this issue with long parallel runs?

Swapped a thermostat wire that ran beside a 240V line for about 10 feet in a restaurant kitchen and it killed the noise immediately. Ever had to rerun a long run because the conduit was already full?

Wait @miab87, didn't you read that shielded cable trick in the Electrician Talk forums too?
