My recent headache with a dual-path communicator's default settings

Last week, I put in a new alarm system with a dual-path communicator. The factory settings left the cell backup off, so when the internet connection failed, no alerts were sent. I had to go back and reprogram it, adding more work to my day. Now I always check both paths are active during the first setup.

That "safety point" about defaults is interesting. My old garage door opener had a similar quirk where the battery backup wouldn't kick in unless you manually enabled it first.

Default settings exist for safety reasons. Maybe they don't want the cellular path active until the primary line is confirmed to avoid false alarms.

Come on, is it a real crisis? ninafisher has a safety point though.
